The owners of this Ballantrae home had a vision for a spacious walk-in pantry to replace their existing small butler’s pantry. They wanted a readily usable, efficient work surface, easily accessible storage space for supplies and small appliances, along with colours and surfaces to blend into their soon-to-be-renovated kitchen. During our design process with the homeowners, we were able to bring their vision to fruition by removing a wall in front of the existing laundry room and filling in the opening to the dining room. A glass-panel pocket door was added to close off the new pantry to the kitchen, making more efficient use of the pantry space. Cabinetry was installed in the same colour and finish as the adjoining kitchen, with the added features of pull-out shelving and a handy broom closet. Pot lights added to natural lighting provided by the existing window. The homeowner crafted wood shelving to complement their new room. A granite countertop to match kitchen countertops completes this perfect space for food prep, baking and storage.
