This master bedroom has had a major makeover, with upgraded lighting, modern design and improved functionality.
The popcorn ceiling in the bedroom and closet was scraped, skim-coated, primed & painted. To improve lighting, the existing central ceiling light in the bedroom was removed, and slim-line LED potlights were installed in the bedroom ceiling and closet corrider.
A closet wall in the bedroom was removed to accommodate a new shower in the master bathroom, resulting in a large walk-though closet between the bedroom and master bath. A new barn door on a matte-black running track closes off the closet and bedroom.
The existing parquet wood flooring in the master bedroom was replaced by new maple wood flooring to match the hallway and main floor hardwood. New baseboards, window and door trim, matching that from the first floor, were installed.
Through design discussion with the homeowners, a floor-to-ceiling freestanding closet was the perfect addition to the room. The cabinetry is in veneered maple, Caviar finish, the doors and drawer fronts in a slab-door style. The interiors are simulated natural birch melamine, and drawers have dovetail construction. This custom-built closet features a recessed mirror with LED strip light above, as well as a drawer with multiple compartments, specifically sized and placed as requested by the homeowner.
